🌱 The Genesis of Elev8

I started Elev8 because I was that kid.

The one with potential, but no path. The one who didn’t know what questions to ask, what tests to take, or how to apply for anything. Not because I didn’t care — but because no one ever showed me what was out there.

I grew up poor. And like a lot of underprivileged kids, I didn’t have access to the systems that help students succeed — not because I wasn’t capable, but because those systems were built without me in mind.

There were no mentors, no college talks, no "here’s how you do it." Just silence. Just survival.

And I made it. But it took the long way. The hard way. And no kid should have to figure it all out alone.

That’s why I created Elev8 — to be the guide I didn’t have.

Elev8 starts in 8th grade because that’s where the path begins. When students start believing in themselves — or start slipping through the cracks. We match them with real mentors who stick around. Who teach them how to navigate grades, tests, financial aid, and choices — so they can see a future they didn’t even know was possible.

Because when you know better, you do better. And when someone believes in you, everything changes.

Elev8 is for the kids who feel forgotten. It's for the kid I used to be.
